Introdution

Right from the very time of its foundation, Colonia del Sacramento has placed an important role in the agenda of European countries – during the “Conquista” and today – as a strategic geographic context for regional integration.-

For this reason we have considerated it appropriate to establish the Casa de Colonia Study Center for the coordination of work undertaken in the region and with the neighboring countries concerning sustainable development and training that will prepare us for integration.-

The study center located on the Calle De Portugal 167 has the capacity to work with groups of up to 40 people. It also has the necessary support of audiovisual aids and computers, in addition to a capacity for lodging up to 10 people - experts or young people on grants.-

Initially considered as a requirement to support the Regional Land Use Plan, together with the Milan Polytechnic, the Center opens up the possibility for “Timing Paths” which allow a wide range of global and other subjects to be dealt with (some perhaps more specific) in order to awaken community awareness and to prepare it for the high degree of competition that is currently demanded.-

The support of the Milan Polytechnic, other research and development centers and the contacts established with the universities of Asunción, the Oriental Republic of Uruguay, Sao Paulo, the National University of La Plata, the Autonomous University of Mexico and other centers, make it possible to ensure a high level of excellence in the treatment of the various contents to be investigated and developed.-

This Study Center is extremely interested in carrying out joint programs with other public and private institutions that may include projects, research, development, field activities, workshops, seminars, training, etc.-

Presented this way, a wide spectrum of possibilities for institutional cooperation are opened up, and we expect to be able to consider them jointly in the near future.-
